Charles Dossi he chose the hill of hinge as an ideal place for his residence, fascinated by the panoramic view of the lake and the city of Como, as well as by the presence of numerous cypresses, which evoked the suggestive atmospheres of the works of the Swiss painter Arnold Bocklin.
For the design of the villa, Dossi availed himself of the consultancy of his friend Louis Conconi, a versatile Milanese artist known as a painter, engraver and architect. Conconi made the first sketches and drawings of the building, while the execution of the works was entrusted to the architect Louis Perrone.
