Prada door from Esino Lario

La Prada door it is one of the most photographed places in northern Grigna, giving the opportunity to see a very particular rock formation, as well as an extraordinary panoramic view.

Reaching the starting point for this excursion is simple and very convenient given that, at the end of the asphalt road, you will be able to enjoy a large paid car park (5,00 euros for the daily rate) located on the Cainallo alp in Esino Lario.

You can pay the ticket at a column located right at the entrance to the Cainallo hotel.

Be careful: without the payment visible on the dashboard of your car the fine is insured!

After leaving the car, continue up a visible climb near the car park until you come across a series of signs with different indications.
The first stretch of the excursion is the same one that leads to the Bogani, Brioschi and Bietti-Buzzi refuges.

After about 30 minutes from the start you will need to turn right following path n.24.

The route is simple and suitable for everyone because it does not present particular physical difficulties.
There is only one most exposed point equipped with chains to help you in case of need.

Beech wooded areas await you which in the colder seasons offer shades of autumnal colors alternating with more rocky areas where the landscape opens up in all its beauty.

In the winter seasons, remember to bring crampons because some less exposed areas make the path icy and more dangerous. The mountains should never be underestimated!

Continuing on the path you arrive at the Bocchetta di Prada where you can see our destination, after about 1 hour of walking with a difference in altitude of 300 metres, you can admire the Porta di Prada.

It is a limestone rock formation about 20 meters high which has an empty arch inside it obtained from the erosion that occurred over millennia. In the center you will find a crucifix while some commemorative plaques have been affixed to the sides.

I advise you to position yourself exactly in the center of the Gate and look above you to enjoy this natural beauty that the Lecco area offers us.
