Il Lake Como he is famous all over the world for his romantic charm and for the elegance of its prestigious villas, which attract a growing number of tourists every year. In addition to the splendid villages along its coasts, Lake Como offers a unique natural landscape, nestled between the lake and mountains, which can be explored thanks to the numerous walks on the ridge.
This route falls into the first part of the famous Ridge of the Larian Triangle, one of the most famous mountain paths that starts from Como and arrive at Bellagio, crossing the Larian Triangle, a portion of the Lombard Prealps between the two branches of Lake Como.
The trail begins at brunate, a location above the city of Como, known as "The Balcony on the Alps" and famous for its Art Nouveau style homes, reachable both by car and via a convenient funicolare.
We leave the car in the car park near the CAO refuge, thus starting from an altitude of 980 meters. A service is active on holidays and days before holidays bus numbers, which transports tourists from the top station of the funicular to Piazzale CAO in just a few minutes.
From here, the long but pleasant journey begins mule track, well signposted, which will lead us to the two reference peaks. Initially, the route enters a forest and is flat on a road suitable for off-road vehicles, passing by numerous huts, including the Baita Carla, Baita Bondella , Baita Boletto.
On clear sunny days, from the right side of the path you can enjoy a wide view of the plain, the Lake Hanno, Lake Pusiano and the Alserio Lake. Continuing along the path, the climb becomes more challenging until you reach a crossroads: on the right you go up to the top of Monte Boletto, while on the left you reach the St. Peter's hut , Molina nozzle.
We turn right, still following the signs for the path on the ridge, and after 10 minutes of rather steep climb, we reach the summit of Mount Boletto (1.236 m, 50 minutes from the CAO hut). Waiting for us, a table with wooden benches, perfect for a short break, and the incredible 360 degree view of Lake Como, the surrounding mountains and the plain.
We then continue in the direction of our second destination: the Mount Bolettone. We always follow the signs for the summit, which indicate a 50 minute walk, taking the route on the ridge which offers splendid views of the grassy peaks which we slowly overcome on our way. Let's go down to the first Molina nozzle (1.120 m), and then climb back towards the summit of Monte Bolettone (1.317 m), characterized by a cross. Once we arrive, another breathtaking view of both the lake and the plain awaits us.
To return to brunate, it is possible to choose an alternative route that crosses the woods along an internal path.
The two mountains can also be reached starting from albavilla, in particular fromAlpe del Viceroy via the path that allows you to reach the Capanna Mara refuge (1.150 m) and subsequently the peaks of Bolettone and Boletto.
This itinerary offers a unique opportunity to discover the wonderful grassy peaks of the Larian mountains, enjoying spectacular views and an unforgettable trekking experience
