Cernobbio on Lake Como, an elegant town at the foot of Mount Bisbino

Cernobbio is an elegant town at the foot of Monte Bisbino , not far from the center of Como . For centuries, a favorite destination for visitors from all over the world, Cernobbio is known for the beauty of its landscape which offers highly evocative corners.

It is a "human scale" town, pleasant and relaxing, perfect for those who love to discover the urban and cultural fabric of our lands.

The wonderful villas around the village of Cernobbio

In fact, the environmental richness is combined with evidence of man's creativity and industriousness, such as his prestigious villas. Among these, the imposing Villa Erba , built in 1898, was the noble residence of the great director Luchino Visconti and is today a functional conference center that hosts numerous demonstrations and events every year.

Another iconic residence in the town is Villa Bernasconi , a fine example of Liberty style, built between 1905 and 1906. Since 2017 it has become a museum, following the concept of the "house that speaks": in fact, it is the Villa itself that leads the visitor in the museum journey through physical objects and interactive installations.

The true treasure of Cernobbio is certainly Villa d'Este , dating back to the 16th century and transformed in 1873 into a luxurious hotel, with sumptuous furnishings and a large Italian garden overlooking the lake.

Its palmarès boasts numerous awards, including the one awarded by the renowned US magazine Forbes , which in 2009 declared it the best hotel in the world.

The Garden of the Valley, an enchanted place

But if you want to be enchanted, taken aback, in disbelief, Cernobbio hides a place where you can try this experience. It's called the Garden of the Valley , a magical place, worth visiting, born from the ashes of an illegal open-air landfill.

The late Pupa Frati, known to all as Nonna Pupa, in the 1980s asked the Municipality to be able to reclaim the entire area at her own expense.

With an infinite love and a burning passion for nature and its gifts, Nonna Pupa left a legacy of a small paradise in the heart of the town, and a wonderful idea which today is an association.

The typical cuisine of Lake Como

Lake Como is also famous for its typical cuisine. The numerous restaurants scattered along the town give visitors to Cernobbio the opportunity to taste some 100% local specialties: from misultin to risotto with perch !

But first, especially in the summer months, an aperitif on the shore immersed in a dream landscape is a must.
