Cernobbio on Lake Como, an elegant town at the foot of Mount Bisbino

Cernobbio is an elegant town at the foot of Mount Bisbino , not far from the center of Como . A favorite destination for centuries for visitors from all over the world, Cernobbio is known for the beauty of its landscape, which offers breathtaking views.

It is a "human scale" town, pleasant and relaxing, perfect for those who love to discover the urban and cultural fabric of our lands.

The wonderful villas around the village of Cernobbio

Indeed, the environmental richness is combined with evidence of human creativity and industriousness, such as its prestigious villas. Among these, the imposing Villa Erba , built in 1898, was the noble residence of the great director Luchino Visconti and is today a functional conference center that hosts numerous events and festivals every year.

Another iconic residence in the town is Villa Bernasconi , a fine example of Art Nouveau style, built between 1905 and 1906. Since 2017 it has become a museum, following the concept of the “speaking house”: it is the Villa itself that guides the visitor on the museum route through physical objects and interactive installations.

Cernobbio 's true treasure is certainly Villa d'Este , dating back to the 16th century and transformed in 1873 into a luxurious hotel, with sumptuous furnishings and a large Italian garden overlooking the lake.

Its list of awards boasts numerous recognitions, including one awarded by the renowned American magazine Forbes , which in 2009 declared it the best hotel in the world.

The Garden of the Valley, an enchanted place

But if you want to be enchanted, astonished, and incredulous, Cernobbio hides a place where you can experience it. It's called Giardino della Valle , a magical place, well worth visiting, born from the ashes of an illegal open-air landfill.

The late Pupa Frati, known to all as Nonna Pupa, in the 80s asked the Municipality to be able to reclaim the entire area at her own expense.

With an infinite love and a burning passion for nature and its gifts, Nonna Pupa left a legacy of a small paradise in the heart of the country, and a wonderful idea which today is an association.

The typical cuisine of Lake Como

Lake Como is also famous for its traditional cuisine. The numerous restaurants dotted around the town offer visitors to Cernobbio the opportunity to savor some 100% local specialties, from misultin to perch risotto!

But first, especially in the summer months, an aperitif on the shore immersed in a dream landscape is a must.
